Anniversaries. It’s usually early that a military spouse discovers the inherent difficulties in celebrating these occasions. I was no different. He was gone for our first anniversary, and since then more often than not trainings have come perilously close to our anniversary if not on it.
Celebrating anniversaries alone is, lets be honest, no matter how you spin it not fun. You could argue this makes them all the more special when they are here. I suppose that’s true. Though it can be hard to see that at the time. For the past few years I’ve wanted to do one thing for our anniversary, have a lovely night out on the Northern Lights. It’s where we got married and there’s nothing nicer than an evening out on Lake Champlain at sunset in Vermont in the summer.
Sadly, that’s not in the cards. This year we will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, but no sunset cruise on the lake, no Vermont, and frankly I’m lucky he’ll even be home for it.
So we will celebrate the best we can in the midst of our PCS preparations.
Happy Anniversary My Love.
