Happy August! I hope you are having a great summer. A new month is here and with it a time to set new goals and look back over the past month. I’m not terribly looking forward to the next two months, in part because it’s been hideously hot here for the past few weeks with absolutely no sign that it will stop. Seriously, it’s been highs around 90 with at least 50% humidity and lows maybe reaching 75 usually more low 77 with 70% -100% humidity at night. Needless to say I am SO ready for summer to be over. So if you have any suggestions for how I can deal with the heat that doesn’t involve AC please, please let me know in the comments! Now, on to the good stuff: goals!

While I didn’t hit all my goals, well most of them, I did make progress on some of them, especially traffic which has been lagging for months. I’ve also got a bit more of a plan for my Instagram content and will hopefully be doing better on that this month. So tell me Instagram active people, especially bloggers, how do you do it? What’s your Instagram secret? I just never know what to post 🙁
Did I hit my July Personal Goals?
- Improve dead lift & barbell row form CHECK
Yoga/Cardio/HIIT 2x WeekNope. I did about 1x week.
- Practice good self-care. CHECK
Ive been working on my dead lift and barbell row form, I’ve deloaded them and am working back up. I can still, even weeks out, feel that my lower back is a bit weak from the strain I had. Due to the very hot and humid weather punctuated with Monsoon rains, I had a ton of migraines this past month which meant I ended up missing workouts both lifting and cardio/yoga. I tried to fit them in as best I could, but also knew I needed to be mindful of my limits as exercise (especially cardio) does trigger migraines for me.
August Goals – For the Blog:
July was a fairly successful month for the blog and I am happy with the increase in traffic, I know there is a lot of work to do and I have to keep at it. I have to be better and continue to focus on giving my readers the content they want to have as well as being more organized in my promotion and content.
- Build a cohesive social media strategy.
- Build a better content strategy with a focus on content types that are popular on my blog.
- Update social media headers to match each other & fit new Facebook layout.
- Instagram 1x a day.
August Goals – Personal Goals:
- Progress on my lifts.
- Focus on diet, reach my protein goals and stay within calorie goals.
- Renew my focus on my spirituality.
I have officially stalled on my efforts to lose weight. My lifts have struggled and I recently have failed my squats, and been unable to progress past 105lbs. After a deload I am nearly back to that plateau again and need to figure out how I can push through. I also have my weaker left sign again rearing it’s head, so I need to be diligent in my form and extra exercises for my left side to help it catch up again. My weight has also plateaued for the past two weeks. It’s very frustrating as my diet hasn’t changed. I’m thinking it’s just water retention and bloating from the heat & humidity, but I want the scale to go down! So I’ll be ensuring I’m measuring everything and staying within my diet’s confines, while reaching my protein goal to help me build the muscle I need to progress on my lifts as I’ve been slacking in the macro department. My spirituality has also suffered for years. I have tried multiple times to renew my focus on it, but for various reasons was unsuccessful. So I’m trying once more to better incorporate it into my daily life and deepen my practice. Good things happen when I let go and embrace the Fate before me. I intend to do more of that.
