Do you like fresh grilled meats? Do you like grilling your own meats? Then beef and leaf is for you! Beef & leaf restaurants are a popular Korean staple. The beef and leaf restaurant we went to was an all-you-can-eat restaurant. That means for one flat fee you get all the grilled meats you want. Drinks, and side dishes including rice & kimchi are extra (though well worth getting).
How it works:
In the center of the table is a grill. There is deli type cooler with a selection of meats near the front, you get a plate then fill it with whatever meats you want. The one we went to had several different cuts of un-marinated beef, a bacon type cut of pork that was neither smoked nor cured (side pork maybe?), various light colored sausages both in cocktail weenie size and sort of hot dog size, pork cutlets, some sort of spam-ish looking meat, and thinly sliced marinated meat. At the table you get a bowl of lettuce leaves, sauces, and a salad. The scissors are used for cutting your meat to manageable sizes and tongs for flipping and managing your meats.
You grill your meats as you see fit. Then when your meats are ready you load them up onto your lettuce leaf, adding whatever condiments you want and eat!
Really good! Definitely a must go if you are ever in Korea or come across a beef and leaf anywhere else in your travels, especially if it’s all you can eat. They also had other dishes there, including spicy noodles, which I would have gone for if I wasn’t so full! Make sure you have room so you can try all the things! We definitely have plans to go back and take our family when they come visit here.
